چکیده

ba ck gr ou nd CBPP is a severe respiratory disease of cattle and buffalo caused by Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides biotype Small Colony (MmmSC). The agent of CBPP was recently isolated from goats at different times and places, even in areas free of CBPP. Thereby, goats should be considered a putative MmmSC reservoir. No test has been proposed so far for surveillance of CBPP in goats. Furthermore, serological tests might be seriously hampered by a common caprine infection due to M. mycoides subsp. capri (Mmc), a subspecies that is antigenically very close to MmmSC. 42% of mycoplasmas isolated in goats are Mmc* France is CBPP-free

Sensitivity and specificity of serological and bacteriological tests for contagious bovine pleuropneumonia.

In 1990 an outbreak of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) occurred in Italy. Subsequent surveillance for CBPP was based on random sampling in bovine herds, serological controls on all animals moved from the herd of origin and controls on slaughtered animals. Official tests employed were the complement fixation test (CFT) and bacteriological isolation and typing. A total of 33,856 serum sa...

Uses of serology for the diagnosis of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia.

A serological test involves detection of specific changes, induced by a pathogen, in the properties or actions of serum of an infected host. The test may detect the presence in serum of either antibodies to the pathogen (produced by the host) or antigens (i.e. the infecting agent itself and/or its components). The many serological tests which have been developed for the diagnosis of contagious ...

Diagnosis and control of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia.

The diagnosis of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP) has often been considered difficult. This is because of the confusion that can arise with other mycoplasmoses of small ruminants. Symptoms and lesions can be similar and the isolation of M. capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae (MccF38) requires skilled technicians. Once MccF38 strains are isolated, their identification should not be diffic...

Experimental Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia: A Long Term Study on the Course of Infection and Pathology in a Flock of Goats Infected with Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae

Contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP) is a major threat to goat farming in parts of Africa and Asia. It classically causes acute high morbidity and mortality early in infection, but little is known of its long term epizootiology and course. In this study, 10 goats were inoculated with Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae (M. capripneumoniae) and then mixed with 15 goats for contact ...
